Collective Ideation #5: Áo Lua Hà Đông

2021

“Áo Lua Hà Đông” is a meditation guide that weaves together memory, mindfulness, and the sensory textures of everyday life. Drawing on personal reflections from family road trips, the work invites participants to embark on an introspective journey, blending the hum of a car engine, Vietnamese radio, and the warmth of familial voices into a rich auditory landscape.

Through evocative narration and moments of pause, the work explores the beauty of seemingly ordinary experiences—shared songs, buzzing car rides, and quiet moments of contemplation— turning them into shimmering pools of reflection.

Listeners are encouraged to connect with their own memories of home and the present sounds around them, embracing a sense of gratitude and wonder. By blending personal narrative, universal themes of love and connection, and the meditative power of sound, Áo Lua Hà Đông becomes an invitation to honor the small joys and the profound echoes they leave behind.

"Collective Ideation #5" is part of the series "Visionary Futures," an online project commissioned by DiverseWorks that critically explore questions of the future through the personal lenses of queer, non-binary artists of color. Theresa composed the soundscape in collaboration with Jason, who designed the video.
