FUBU

2022

FUBU is written in dedication to flowers, in the language of flowers, by myself, a poet who deeply identifies with the qualities of flowers.

I remember going to figure drawing classes and before we addressed the human model, we would warm-up by whisking charcoal strokes across the page in order to activate the memory of a ‘lively’ line. We then aimed to carry the same energy while depicting more literal images such as a human figure. I remain with the warm-up. More captivated by the embodiment of liveliness than the image itself.
